Welcome to...OUR HOME
{Foyer, & Upstairs Bedrooms}
So we all sleep tight & continue to Phase 2 well rested!
{ THE DINING ROOM }
Has become this... {for now}
A fresh coat of paint was applied during stage 1...
Currently, the color is Toasty Tan from Ace Hardware.
***
In stage 2 this will become part of the kitchen in a farm fabulous way...with a custom window seat, island and exposed chimney.
WE CAN'T WAIT to Share!
{ THE FOYER }
The finished upstairs { for now } good design is a work-in-progress.
{Before}
We started our Re-Model from the top down. We wanted the kids to feel at home & like they had their own space so, their rooms & our Master were the #1 priority.
The picture to the left is how the farm's foyer & upstairs landing looked prior to us moving in.
We removed the old iron railing and installed a seamless railing, new wooden stair treads with spindles and newel posts for a Modern Farmhouse feel.
***
The chandelier, which was beautiful, was too small for the space. So it was removed, parted out & became my Christmas tree decor. How many people can say they have real lead crystal icing on their tree?

Finding a new purpose other than the dumpster or a landfill for the items removed is a goal of ours as we update our home & create {RePurposed} items for our store.
A new, larger, front door was added to allow more light. The picture to the right shows the old door and foyer before the remodel. Solid alderwood doors in a more traditional & timeless style replaced the louvered closet doors. A new natural flooring replaced the linoleum that was there to brighten and add a timeless traditional feel.
Our Modern Farmhouse!
{In the early stages}
Before the railing was installed, we really loved the loft feel.
But...
We have {& will have more} kids.
So...up goes a railing.
New paint color
after a some schmoozing,...
Brent finally agreed to paint the brick white!!!
{A great choice on his part & he really loves it!}

New hand-scraped, hickory, hardwood flooring & stair treads {to look reclaimed}
& a seamless, alderwood railing & newel posts help complete the {timeless farmhouse} feel.

A new fiberglass wood {look} door with great leaded glass, allows for more light in the foyer.
This door casts great light onto the floor, which is one of our favorite things in the remodel so-far.
***

A new light was added to the ceiling of the foyer.
This light picks up on the details of the barn door hardware and the front door leaded glass...

{Creating a very UNIFIED space}
{Before}
Upstairs foyer storage closets have become...
...Master bedroom closets.
As we, changed a formal living room into a Master bedroom...
with its very own custom barn door!
{After}
New knotty alderwood doors were added to all entry and closets.
We chose this wood for the great "knot holes" that bring in the dark hickory stain of the floor & unite the upstairs hickory flooring with the oak hardwood flooring in the original farmhouse. We intend to keep, the original flooring and run it through the entire kitchen & main floor.
We compromised on stained wood doors over a white painted finish.

{ The NEW Master }
We are not much for making a bed...So, the above photo is how the Master usually looks.
The bed, along with the matching table was purchased from A&W Furniture {link}, in Redwood Falls, MN. We recommend them for purchases of NEW furniture. They have many suppliers and can help you find just what your looking for.
We also have two custom wardrobes {being Created by Dain Peterson} that will flank the window and add much needed closet space for the artist's wardrobe.
Currently, the color is Toasty Tan from Ace Hardware.
{ THE KID'S ROOMS }
Before, a blank canvas...
Leo's Room features a {Minnesota Twins} baseball themed color palette & antique baseball equipment collection.
For the girls... a shared room!
Matching beds and an Antique Cream wall color from Better Homes & Gardens will create a neutral canvas for {pops} of color provided by mapped accessories.This room will have bright stripped bedding & a colorful {GLOBAL} theme.
(Notice the girls have picked up on my not making the bed trait.)

Auntie Shelly
We would love to come and visit...Maybe a trip to see you this summer & decorating in lieu of a place to stay. Blessings from Minnesota!
Jamie and Brent! Thank you so much for the nice "mentions" of the store. Love what you're doing...such great taste! Can't wait to see where the journey takes you! Emily Davis
Emily, We are having so much fun remodeling and getting ready for our Barn Store. We have a few items on our list for fall purchases from your amazing furniture store. We will be posting a few more mentions about A&W Furniture as we blog the girls room with their great matching storage beds purchased from A&W. Blessings from the farm,
The Steffls
Can you tell me what colors you used on the walls for the baseball themed room? Thanks so much!!!
Nuttmeg,
We used Better Homes & gardens Admiral Blue for the Bottom and a Dutch Boy Custom Match that is very similar to Ace Hardware's Toasty Tan. I have designed a couple of rooms with this scheme and it is always a pleasing combination...Blessings from the farm, The Steffls
Your home is so beautiful and elegant. The limestone which looks like they were bought from the bonita stone in Perth limestone suppliers, looks regal and sleek.
